Windows 7 and LGO – the missing piece
For years, Coordinate Editor has been the main stay program for making GSI files, the Leica standard file type. 700’s, 800’s, 1100’s; they all require .gsi’s. But for those upgrading to Windows Vista or W7, Coordinate Editor is no longer supported. No more copy & paste into CrdEditor! Now, spreadsheet data such as txt/csv must be imported into a project in LGO as ASCII data, and then re-exported using a GSI format-file. As with DXF export, the ‘Custom ASCII’ export settings must be configured using a gsi.FRT. It’s a solution, but greatly more time consuming. At least the latest kit accepts ASCII data directly. Those using “Construction Data Manager” for the Builder series however are ok – CDM is effectively LGO and CrdEditor rolled into one; get a copy from the Leica website (though you can only import 20points unless you register!)
