Verify the following before installing your Autodesk 2013 software:
From your Start Menu open up your Control Panel and set the “view by:” to either Large or Small icons for the following tasks.
Verify that your Operating System is up to date. You can run "check for updates by going here: Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Windows Update > click on the link "Check for updates" in the upper left corner.
Verify that your Video Card Driver is current and up to date. You can find out what card type your computer has by going to Control Panel>All Control Panel Items > click on Device Manager to open up the Device Manager Dialog box. Expand Display Adapters and this will tell you the name of your video card. If you right click on the driver name and click on Properties then click on the Driver tab it will tell you the driver version which will help you know if you are update or not. You can go directly to the driver’s website or you can utilize the Autodesk driver updates website.
Verify that your temp folder has been cleaned out as best as possible. To get to your temp folder do the following; Go to the start menu and type %temp% in the search folders and files and hit your enter key or open a Windows Explorer and in the path type %temp% and hit the enter key. Select all the files inside this folder and hit your Delete key. If you get a dialog box stating that something cannot be deleted click the Skip button.
Turn off Firewall by going to the Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Windows Firewall and clicking on the link "Turn Windows Firewall on or off" in the upper left corner. This can be turned back on as soon as you are done with the download and installation of all your Autodesk software.
Turn off your Anti-Virus which is located in the lower right corner of your desktop in the Task Tray. Typically this has to be disabled by IT. This can be turned back on as soon as you are done with the download and installation of all your Autodesk software.
Turn off User Account Control Settings (UAC) by going to the Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > User Accounts > click on the link "Change User Account control Settings" set this to "Never Notify". This should remain off for your Autodesk product to run effectively.
