Eaton Socon 14th November 2013 – SCCS has supported rail specialists contractor Amey Colas to deliver real time and cost savings using Leica iCon Machine Control systems installed on multiple Komatsu dozers. The project, at Woodborough near Swindon is part of the c£250m High Output Track Renewals contract let by Network Rail.
The weekend night works involved the 2 Komatsu dozers, fitted with iCon GPS Machine Control both receiving high frequency corrections from a single iCon GPS base station. The formation and ballast layers were completed faster than anticipated and to such quality that upon hand back, the tamper process was streamlined to achieve the maximum110mph line speed rating.
