SCCS recently hosted two demonstration days for the latest innovation from Amberg Technologies, the IMS Survey System. This new method allows track surveys to be undertaken from a single trolley with no requirement for tripod setups. It provides coordinated track geometry surveys at high speed and point density making use of the track-side control points and the IMS systems industry grade IMU (Inertial measurement unit).
Organisations who attend the day included Skanska Civil Engineering, Balfour Beatty, Amey, Costain, Plowman Craven and Carillion, all were extremely impressed with the efficiency and accuracy.
